We take great pride in being the professional that you need when making sure your car is in great shape. When we say we take care of your vehicle from the ground up, we mean it! Sometimes we forget that some general repair shops do not replace tires for their clients, so we don't often remind our current clients or new clients that we do! If you are on this page, great, you will know that we take care of your tires, mount, balance, and align all right here at George’s Sierra Shell. We offer a nationwide tire protection plan for the peace of mind knowing that you are taken care of no matter where you are. With so many tire brands and types on the market, we take the guesswork out of what tires are best for your vehicle and you! Believe me when I say, not all tires are created equally. In the meantime, when you think of tires, think of the fact that they are the only thing touching the road and what allows your car to not only accelerate, but STOP TOO!
Maintaining Your Tires
Your tires are the only part of your vehicle that actually touches the road when you drive. It only takes a couple of minutes of maintenance each month to keep your tires working at their best.
Check Your Air Pressure Once a Month
Incorrect air pressure is the leading cause of tire damage. To avoid tire damage you need to check your tire’s air pressure once a month.
The air pressure listed on the side of your tire is NOT the correct air pressure for your vehicle. That number is the maximum air pressure for the tire. Consult your manual for proper tire pressure.
Rotate Your Tires
The best way to prevent uneven wear is to have your tires rotated every 5,000 – 6,000 miles or as specified in your vehicle’s owner manual.
Check Your Tread Depth
To prevent hydroplaning and skidding, your tires must have proper tread depth. The minimum tread depth is 1/16 of an inch. Be sure to check your tire tread for uneven wear. Irregular wear shortens the life of your tires, if you think you have uneven wear give us a call.
Potential Tire Troubles
- Curbs can prove to be big trouble to your tires. Approach curbs with care, if you drive over them too fast or at the wrong angle the impact may cause the tire to crack.
- Avoid potholes or debris in the road when possible.
- Avoid fast stops & starts.
